windows defender will not install on pirate versions of XP. It has it's own valadtion tool. If you don't have a valid (legit) key it will not install. Windowes Defender runs in the back ground so you never see it unless it comes up with a legit spyware,hijacker,trojen and so on. I use it all the time and have had any never problems.

have not tried windowsdefender but have had several problems in downloads with xp sp2 (I have media edition with it also). Discovered that when you come across download problems you must remove software in safe mode (press f8 during start up to access). Turn computer off and reload program in safe mode, test it and then turn computer off and restart in regular mode. Gawd dam fawkin Bill Gates. To hell with him.

I've been using Windows XP since it released in 2001 and till date my PC never crashed and I could use every program Microsoft released. I used AntiSpyware and now Defender. The only difference is that i'm using GENUINE WINDOWS XP! Make sure all you GENUINE WINDOWS XP users download it directly from the Microsoft site and not from links in DAP or on the web. I'm saying this because Microsoft releases patches for Defender quite often and you may end up downloading an old version which has some bug.

You can't update the signatures if you are behind a firewall, because there is no way to set the firewall! Can't be installed on a Pre-XP OS unless you manually copy gdiplus.dll to your path. Frequent false positives. Often tries to access CD-ROM, and since there is no CD in the drive, unnecessary popups is the result.

You know if you are spending a lot of time on a computer and can't afford to buy a stable, legit and secure copy of windows you need to get a job. It's one thing to have a few cracked programs but a cracked OS, your just asking for a poor computing experience. I have no particular love for Microsoft but I have zero problems with my purchased OS. As far as security goes you must use PC Cillin anti-virus software -- I've tried them all and PC Cillin is the absolute best. Avoid Mcaffe and Norton as they will allow bad things to happen to your machine. Take it or leave it, but that is the solution to your problems. The only adware/spyware utility I use beyond that is Spyware Doctor as it is the only program to use for the really nasty stuff.

My PC is not licensed either. I use pirated windows xp sp2 but luckily i have a license VLK number. Through the use of windows defender, I have eliminated rontokbro virus. Windows defender can't detect it but its features help me terminate and remove the rontokbro from the registry and from the running memmory apps to the directories which it is designed to save emails adress. So use it guys to eliminate rontokbro or other viruses by using its powerful features.

I run XPSP2 and have beed for last 3 years with no problems, download this rubbish and try to intstall created more system errors than I have ever had, eventually managed to reboot to get the 'the system has recovered from a major error' Had to reinstall windows, DON'T TOUCH THIS PROGRAMME, EVER ! !

For the firewall use ZoneAlarm(for entry users) or Sygate Personal Firewall(for more advanced users). Antivir Personal is the perfect free antivirus software.
